Invaders From Mars
From Tobe Hooper, the director of “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and “Lifeforce,” this creature feature is crawling with horrifying hordes of Martians hell-bent on stealing your soul, as well as your planet! Little David Gardner’s starry-eyed dreams turn into an out-of-this-world nightmare when invaders from the red planet land in his backyard and unleash their evil plan on unsuspecting earthlings. Terrified as the aliens take over the minds of his parents and even his schoolmates, David must find a way to stop them before they turn the whole human race into brain-dead zombies! Showcasing “magnificent” (Time Out) special effects from John Dykstra (“Star Wars”) and the “horrific” (Time Out) creations of Stan Winston (“The Terminator”), this thrilling remake stars Karen Black (“Burnt Offerings”), Hunter Carson (“Paris, Texas”), Timothy Bottoms (“Rollercoaster”), Louise Fletcher (“Flowers in the Attic”), James Karen (“The Return of the Living Dead”) and Bud Cort (“Gas-s-s-s”).

1 month agoThis is still the most effective military response to an alien invasion that I've ever seen in a sci-fi movie.

1 month agoHow can a movie directed by the guy who did TCM starring an Oscar winner written by the screenwriter of Alien with special effects by John Dykstra and Stan Winston be this lame?!

1 month ago7:20 In the parents defense, the likelihood of the kid hallucinating invaders from mars is much more likely than any extraterrestrial visit from the red planet. Even at the time of filming, we knew a lot from viking landers that mars is pretty desolate, so if it were my child, I'd probably be annoyed too.

1 month agoI loved this movie as a kid, and still do now. Reminds me of "The Faculty"….. But made first, of course.

1 month agoI grew up in the 80's, how do I not remember this movie, so many great lines, like by the General, the Mom at the end talking like a robot, LoL, but was wondering, if it was all a dream the first time, will it all be a dream the second time as well?

1 month agoThis is a remake of a 1953 classic (if you see it, I suggest the American, not the British, version). Some remakes of classic movies are excellent (The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Fly, The Little Shop of Horrors, for example), and some are not as good as the original. It's my opinion that this remake is not.

1 month agoConsidering the director came from Poltergeist, it's rather surprising that this film feels like the work of a complete amateur.

1 month agoA pretty nifty throwback to s/f movies of the 1950s. Plus the best performance by Fletcher after "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and before "Deep Space Nine."
