I now that the house "Selects" a "New Host" for the Curse, finally releasing Kayako from the Grips of Takeo… but, she still kills Audrey in the 2nd film, even though she was attacked by Takeo. All we see is Kayako, giving her one of the most Coldest… almost, "Demonic" stare. Almost as if, she knew that Audrey was going to be the main focus of her choosing. If anyone remembers in the amazing 2002 OG Japanese Film Ju On: The Grudge, Rika was the one who was seeing HER OWN Death. Her OWN Ghost haunting HERSELF! It was NOT Kayako, but it was RIKA herself! It's brutal, but I definitely see the similarities between the 2002 film… and the 2004 American Remake! Since 2002, the Story of the House being an *SCP-Like" Entity all in it's own way… in a way, the HOUSE is a Living entity… like, it's a Character all of it's own! Completely fleshed out, the story in a weird formation of Chapters that go between different characters.
But always, the characters meet together (Not in reality, but in timelapses) in the mid part, or the most F–cked up climax of the Film.

4 months ago…wow, this movie did not stand up to the test of time. Any creepiness is unfortunately ruined by cheesy special effects, a moronic story, and unsympathetic characters.

show more show lessThe movie itself wasn't scary as anticipated. Grudge's sound was super annoying (like, she needed to burp but couldn't so she prolonged the obnoxious noise instead)… could not take her supposed "horror" for reals. The "ghostly" kid's cosmetic was poorly done. So… nothing felt scary.
Buuuut — it was ok for Monday afternoon's (after work) relaxation.

4 months agotook 25 yrs to finally watch this movie. tbh, wasnt all that scary, just creepy sounds and blood. oh yeah, and making people look as white and bloody as possible to sustain the creepiness of seeing a ghost. pretty comparable to the ring movies.

4 months agoWow. The Grudge is finally free on YouTube…in its 20th year anniversary!! Happy 20 years Grudge. One of the movies I watched in my hometown’s theater before they closed it.
Edit: I think it’s been free for 2 years and never noticed.
